Public Relations and Media Inquiries Policy

Florida State University Libraries welcomes inquiries from the media concerning library issues and operations. For the purposes of this policy, FSU Libraries consists of the Robert Manning Strozier Library, Paul A.M. Dirac Library and the Claude Pepper Library.

Media are asked to first contact the FSU Director of Media Relations at (850) 644-3022. Or they may contact the Director of University Libraries office directly at (850) 644-5211.

Designated Spokespeople

Within the FSU Libraries, individuals designated to speak to the media on behalf of the FSU Libraries are:

No one other than the individuals listed here are authorized to speak to any media representative on the behalf of FSU Libraries.

NOTE: This policy in no way should be construed to infringe on the rights of individual library or other FSU faculty and staff to speak to the media as individuals. However, it is the responsibility of the individual library faculty or staff member to make it clear to the media representative that their comments are personal and do not in any way represent or reflect the position or opinions of FSU Libraries. It is strongly recommended that when any media contact with, or media request for individual comment from, someone other than a designated Libraries spokesperson be reported to the Communication/ Publications Coordinator at Strozier Library and the University Libraries Director as soon as possible and prior to publication of the news story.

Friends of the University Libraries

While the Communication/Publications Unit at Strozier Library can assist the media in contacting the Friends of the University Libraries, this policy does not apply to any inquiries about or related to the events and activities of that organization.
