What is UBorrow?
UBorrow is a user-centered service which will enable you to request
materials from any public university library in Florida with a single request via the
Online Catalog. Items will
automatically be requested from other schools in Florida after the
patron enters their Library Number and Password.
Requests for items that
aren't available in Florida will be transferred into an ILL request
Eligible State University students, staff and faculty can request books
from 37 state university library branches throughout Florida, and
have them delivered to one of 33 locations.
Check it out: http://union.catalog.fcla.edu.
How it works:
"UBorrow" stands for unmediated borrowing. Patrons can
easily place and manage their requests via the online catalog. The University library system creates and forwards requests among the libraries using
information about where items are actually available. Library staff pulls
and receives items - meaning they are involved only at the point of
actually handling the books. If an item is currently unavailable at any
state university library, the patron is notified at the time of request and provided a link to
easily forward the request to their local traditional ILL service.
How it works for Distance Learners:
When distance learners request an item in the FSU Catalog using UBorrow the item is mailed to your home. (You must live outside a 50 mile radius of the campus) Please check your home mailing address during the request. (if you need to update your address use the phone number below your address).
The book will be due 30 days from the time FSU recieves the book. Please check the due date and mail the book back to the FSU library on time or drop it off at any FSU library. You may renew the item once using "My Library Account" found at the top of this page and in the catalog.
