Study Spaces in University Libraries

Scholars Commons

Scholars Commons has several group study areas and conference rooms, an instructional lab that seats up to 60 people, and Graduate study carrels for semester use.

Many of the rooms are equipped with computers, Idea Wall Paint, comfortable seating, ceiling projectors, and wireless access.

Faculty and Graduate students are welcome to reserve rooms by visiting the Scholars Commons room reservation pages.

Learning Commons

Smart Rooms

There are 9 Smart Rooms located in the Learning Commons. These rooms are equipped with Smart Board Technology.  A projector is used to display a laptop’s video output on the Smart Board, which then acts as a large touch screen.

Smart Rooms are reserved for FSU students/faculty/staff group use only. All patrons must fill out and complete a Smart Room Agreement form before you can check out a room. Rooms may not be reserved in advance with the exception of Smart Room 107-K. Reservations require groups of 6 or more and may not exceed 4 hours. Requests must be made at least 48 hours in advance.

Group and Individual Study Rooms
Rooms are available for 2 hours. At Strozier, the rooms are locked when not in use. You may check out a key for a room at the Technology Desk. In order to check out a Group room, at least two people from your study group will need to be present. Rooms have a $10 late fee as well as $10 every additional hour they are late. When you are finished with the room, please return the key to the Technology Desk. The keys may not be removed from Strozier Library.

Dirac Science Library

Group Study Rooms are available at Dirac Library for 2 or more individuals who want to study and meet together. Priority is given to FSU students. The staff reserves the right to see student IDs. The group study rooms are designated for groups that wish to study together and not for tutoring.  Please refer to the the information on official tutoring services available at the library.

Dirac Study Spaces

Four group study rooms are available in Dirac, two on the 2nd (main) floor and two on the 3rd floor, each with a capacity to hold 5 people. The rooms are available on a first-come, first-serve honor system basis. Markers and erasers for white boards may be checked out from the Dirac Circulation Desk.

  • Rooms cannot be reserved in advance
  • Rooms are not available for individual use
  • Rooms may not be “held” by an individual who is waiting for his/her group
  • Dirac Library are not responsible for loss or theft of personal property
  •  Food and drink is permitted at Dirac. Please refer to Food and Drink Policy http://www.lib.fsu.edu/about/policies.html#food
  • Earphones must be used with radios, CDs, recorders, etc.
  • WINDOWS MUST REMAIN UNCOVERED
