Supplemental materials for courses may be placed on course reserve for the semester when the course is offered. Materials may include books, videos/DVDs, articles, book chapters, and physical objects and may be items from the Libraries’ collection or personal copies belonging to the instructor. Any items placed on reserve must meet the conditions of copyright law.
Requests for items to be placed on course reserve should be submitted using the online form. Any items that need to be on reserve for the first week of the semester should be submitted at least 3 weeks prior to the beginning of the semester. Reserves requests submitted once the semester has begun will be processed within 5 business days.
Instructors may request that the Libraries pick up their personal items to place on course reserve using the Library Express Delivery Service (LED).
Location of Reserves
Physical Reserves
Books, videos/DVDs, and other physical items on reserve are located at the main service desk at Strozier or Dirac Library as designated by the instructor. Items from other FSU Libraries, including Law, Medicine, and Music, will be placed on reserve at those libraries.
Electronic Reserves
Journal articles and book chapters on reserve in electronic form are available from a course’s Blackboard site. The “E-Reserves” link at the bottom of the left-hand sidebar on the course Blackboard site provides access to the reserve items.
Locating Reserves: Titles and locations of books and videos/DVDs on reserve in Strozier or Dirac Library are listed in a document under the e-Reserves link on the course Blackboard site. All items on reserve may be searched by course, instructor, title, or author from the Course Reserves link on the FSU Libraries’ home page.
