Personal Message

Hi! My name is Alicia Korenman and I'm the Humanities Librarian/Subject Specialist for Religion, Classics, Philosophy, and Modern Languages. I have been working for FSU since June 2006.

I grew up in lovely Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and attended Penn State University for college (I'm an unabashed Nittany Lion!), where I triple-majored in History, Comparative Literature, and Jewish Studies. I also spent a semester studying at Tel Aviv University.

After graduation, I began grad school at Duke University, where I received an MA in Religion (concentrating on Biblical and Judaic Studies). I also worked at Duke's radio station, WXDU, for five years. After processing Duke's Murray Collection of Comic Books and Pulp Culture, I realized that librarianship was where it was at (so to speak) and ended up at UNC-Chapel Hill, where I received my MSLS.

Although I miss Chapel Hill (especially its music scene), I am really glad to be here in Tallahassee serving the FSU Community! As the Humanities Librarian, my goal is to work closely with my departments to fill their needs. I'll be working on building collections, filling in gaps, and developing resources for faculty and students. I also will be working closely with the department on research consultions, instruction sessions, and other public services. If you have any questions about any of the services we provide, don't hesitate to email me at akorenman@mailer.fsu.edu. You can also email me if you want someone to go to shows with. :)
