Study Spaces Open to All FSU Students

The following spaces are available to students on the Tallahassee campus as of March 2021.  Please contact Beth Boatright (eboatright@fsu.edu) with any corrections, additions, or updates.

Strozier and Dirac Libraries

  • Strozier and Dirac have capacity for several hundred students to study on our open floors. The spaces are available for individual study only. Safety guidelines are in place and library materials should be requested in advance.

  • No noise restrictions – students can be on Zoom calls on any open floor

  • Group study rooms will remain closed until further notice.

  • Individual study rooms in at Strozier and Dirac may be reserved for up to four hours at a time. Reservations are required and keys may be picked up at the service desk. Scholars must sanitize the space before and after use and masks are required.

ACE/William Johnston Building (WJB)

Innovation Hub

  • 20+ “workspaces” that can be reserved in advance, individuals only

  • 3 enclosed rooms that can be reserved in advance, individuals only

  • Larger rooms can be reserved by faculty/staff/departments.

  • Must register for an account in order to reserve a space.

  • Questions may be directed to info@innovation.fsu.edu or Ken Baldauf (ken@innovation.fsu.edu).

CARE/Thagard

  • 26 rooms that can be reserved in advance, individuals only. Open to all FSU students. See booking instructions below.
  • Questions may be directed to CARE@fsu.edu.
  • Rooms 201 and 208 at the Student Services Building are available 8 PM - 5 PM, Monday - Friday. In addition, Room 203 is available Sunday, April 11th through Saturday, April 17th. This rool will be open from 8am-7pm Monday-Friday and 12pm-7pm on Saturday & Sunday.

    • Socially distanced 6’ tables with 1 chair each for INDIVIDUAL study.

    • There is a SANITATION BREAK between 12pm-1pm; rooms will not be available during this time.

    • Cleaning supplies are provided for each table so students can wipe down the table and other touchpoints when they leave.

    • Total of 23 table spots available.

    • CHECKING IN: Students must swipe their FSU ID at the SSB information desk and show a cleared Daily Wellness Check from the My FSU app prior to entering a study room.

    • Noise restrictions apply—these are quiet spaces.

    • No food or beverages are allowed in the study rooms.

    • Students may call the Information Desk in advance to check for available tables: (850) 644-6083.

 
  • 26 rooms that can be reserved in advance, individuals only. Open to all FSU students. See booking instructions below.

  • 4 rooms available between 9 AM and 5 PM for individual students who need to take exams. 

  • Rooms have wifi and a whiteboard

  • Rooms must be reserved two days in advance by contacting Jesse O'Reilly at jloreilly@fsu.edu or calling 850-645-9779.

  • Confirmation email will include check-in directions and guidelines. Students must complete wellness check the day of their reservation.


Study Spaces with Limited Access

Music Library

  • Available to students in the FSU College of Music.

  • Open for limited hours and with limited capacity, but some study areas will be open.

Academic Resource Center

  • Available to students living in residence halls.

  • The ARC in Jennie Murphree Hall is open; capacity is limited to eight people..

  • Residence Hall study rooms are open; capacity for most rooms is one person.

Engineering Building and Library

  • Available to FAMU FSU College of Engineering students.

  • Atrium is open for general study 24/7.

  • Library computer lab is open; capacity is limited to five people. 

College of Law Research Center

  • Available to College of Law students, faculty, and staff only.

Maguire Medical Library

  • Available to College of Medicine MD and PA students only.


Addendum: Booking Instructions for CARE/Thagard Study Rooms

Students can reserve a Single Occupancy Study Room in the Thagard Building, 1st and 2nd floors, for 1-2-hour study sessions.

To request a reservation for a Single Occupancy Study Room in Thagard, please email CARE@fsu.edu. Your email must include the following information:

  • Student’s Name

  • FSUID

  • Phone Number

  • Requested Date and Time slot (up to 90 minutes per slot) you would like to schedule. (Note: You may request up to 3 reservation slots in one email; however, these time slots cannot be consecutive, i.e. you cannot request 3 reservations for Wednesday 8/26/20, 8am-10am, 10am-12pm, 12pm-2pm.)

You will get a confirmation email within 24 hours of your reservation request.

When you arrive for your reservation appointment:

  1. You will check in with the CARE Lab’s front desk staff member.

  2. To receive a study room key, you must turn in your FSU ID Card.

  3. Please follow our Thagard Study Room Code of Conduct while you are in the building.

  4. CARE Lab staff will check that your study room is clean before you can receive your FSU ID Card at checkout.

Thagard Study Room Code of Conduct: 

  1. To observe social distancing ordinances, the occupancy of each study room is limited to 1 (one) student per room.

  2. If the student is 15 minutes late, the reservation will be canceled.

  3. Please do not eat or drink in the study rooms.

  4. Each student is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing the study room before and after individual use. Disinfecting wipes will be provided by CARE Lab staff.

  5. Facial masks are not necessary when the student is alone in the study room; however, when leaving the study room for ANY REASON, the student is required to wear their mask.

  6. You may request a set of dry erase markers and an eraser. If you use the dry erase walls (green walls ONLY), please erase the wall before you leave.
