FSU Libraries' Spring Symposium - Publish or Perish: Conversations in Academic Publishing

February 2016

University Libraries, in collaboration with the Graduate School and the Office of Faculty Development and Advancement, are excited to host a spring symposium, Publish or Perish: Conversations on Academic Publishing, in the Robert B. Bradley Reading Room, in the Scholars Commons of Strozier Library on Thursday, February 25, 2016 from 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m.

The symposium is an educational opportunity for students and faculty to learn about the state of academic publishing by engaging with leaders in the field. In particular, the symposium will focus on exploring current trends and best practices in journal publishing, the role of publishing in tenure and promotion at FSU, the intersection of open access and commercial publishing, and what the future holds for the scholarly monograph.

The symposium will feature distinguished speakers including FSU Provost Sally McRorie, Nancy Marcus, Dean of the Graduate School, and Kyle Courtney, Program Manager of Harvard University’s Office of Scholarly Communications, and a number of interactive sessions and panel discussions. Registration is free and participants are welcome to attend the entire event or individual sessions.
