When placing items on electronic reserve, Florida State University Libraries strive to follow the United States Copyright Act of 1976. Specifically, the Copyright Act addresses four factors in Section 107 which determine Fair Use of copyrighted materials.

When placing items on electronic reserve, Florida State University Libraries strive to follow the United States Copyright Act of 1976. Specifically, the Copyright Act addresses four factors in Section 107 which determine Fair Use of copyrighted materials. These factors are:
- Purpose- The purpose and character of the use, including whether such use is of commercial nature or is for nonprofit educational use;
- Nature- The nature of the copyrighted work;
- Amount- The amount and substantiality of the portion used in relation to the copyrighted work as a whole; and
- Effect- The effect of the use upon the potential market for and value of the copyrighted work
Streaming Videos
Florida State University Libraries will provide up to 3 Streaming videos per course taught by an instructor. Each allotment of videos is based specifically by course number, not section. If a professor feels that his/her course requires more than 3 videos, he/she may petition for an exception. For information please contact Lib-Reserves@fsu.edu
