Who Can Borrow?

FSU Community
Members of the FSU community are granted borrowing privileges with their current FSU Card.
See the FSU Card Center if you do not have a current FSU Card.
- Undergraduate students currently registered for classes
- Graduate students currently registered for classes
- Faculty with appointments
- Visiting faculty and researchers with an appointment from an FSU department
- Adjunct faculty only while actively teaching courses
- Full time staff
- OPS employees
- Retired FSU faculty and staff
Florida Community Colleges and Public Universities
Current students, faculty, and staff of the Florida Community Colleges and Public Universities are granted borrowing privileges. Current university I.D. must be presented and verified.
Special Borrowing Permits
Free Special Borrowing Permits are given only to the following patrons. Supporting documentation must be submitted with the application:
- Visiting scholars sponsored by an FSU department
- Florida government employees (state or county)
- Federal government employees
- Staff and students in special FSU affiliated programs
Alumni and Visitors
Alumni and visitors are invited to conduct research inside the university libraries. Borrowing privileges for alumni and visitors can be obtained by purchasing a Community Borrowers Card.

Media Equipment loan period & late fees
Fines are detailed in the table below.
Bring back your materials on-time. If your item is out for 60 or more days you will be responsible for the replacement cost.

* Any Course Reserve/Textbook that is late by 24 hours or more will be charged in full to the patron that checked it out. The replacement fine is non-refundable, and the library will automatically order another copy for Course Reserves/Textbooks.
** Items declared lost will be assessed a $100 replacement fee plus a $5 (non-refundable) processing fee. Patrons may return these items or replace them (In "like new" or better condition) to have the $100 fine removed, provided they fall within the below listed reimbursement policy.
Late Return and Reimbursement Policy
The University Libraries has developed the following guidelines for patron return of any library materials.
Missing/replacement items will not be accepted or payment reimbursed for:
- Books that have been declared lost for 12 months or more from its original due date.
- Media items that have been declared lost for 30 days or more from its original due date.
- Reserve books that have been declared lost for 3 days or more from its original due date.
- Items that have been withdrawn from the collection.
- Items that have already been replaced.

Library charges can be paid through Student Business Services.
Call Library Fines Management, (850) 645-8822, Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. with any questions. The office is on the second floor of Strozier Library. When facing the Norwood Reading Room, go to the left.

Some library material is stored off-campus, or in publicly inaccessible storage.

Item requested will typically arrive by 5:00 pm the next business day. The requested item will then be held for 7 days at your chosen library.
