Digital Library Center

The Digital Library Center (DLC) supports the creation and longevity of Florida State University digital projects. It provides community members with expertise in the digitization of materials, digital project management, metadata creation, and digital preservation. Services include digitizing Special Collections & Archives materials as well as providing consultation for the university’s digital projects. Additionally, the DLC manages and maintains the Florida State University Digital Library in the FSU Digital Repository.

Archives & Manuscripts Program

The Archives Department works to acquire, steward, and promote access to archival materials in all formats. In collaboration with colleagues and stakeholders, the department stewards collection development opportunities related to archival materials. The department also manages appraisal, preservation, arrangement, and description projects to establish and improve access to archival collections.

Research Services & Engagement

The Research Services & Engagement program staff facilitates the promotion and access to SCA materials. RSE staff provide reference support in person in SCA spaces and virtually through remote reference. RSE staff collaborate with instructors at FSU and in the community to create and deliver instruction sessions in primary source literacy.

Preservation Program

The Preservation Program oversees and coordinates the comprehensive preservation activities for the care of diverse collections to ensure their continued use and access. The program manages a variety of activities, including: conducting preservation surveys and assessments, maintaining inventory control of collections, creating custom enclosures for rare books and artifacts, leading disaster preparedness and response, environmental monitoring and security, staff and user education, collaborating on exhibit installation, and coordinating complex collection moves.

Sunshine State Digital Network

The Sunshine State Digital Network (SSDN) connects Florida’s cultural heritage organizations to build supportive digital collection partnerships. The vision of the Sunshine State Digital Network is to create a collaborative statewide digital collections network of cultural heritage organizations to share the rich human experience evidenced through Florida digital collections on a worldwide stage. SSDN is run administratively through FSU Special Collections & Archives.
